The Rhein-Kreis Neuss district police authority (KPB) is one of a total of 47 district police authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Rhein-Kreis Neuss district police authority has over 700 employees who work around the clock, 365 days a year, to ensure safety in the cities of Neuss, Grevenbroich, Kaarst, Meerbusch, Dormagen, Korschenbroich and Jüchen as well as in the municipality of Rommerskirchen. The majority are police officers, but members of the district administration and government employees - in civilian clothes - are also part of the team for the people of the district.

The KPB Rhein-Kreis Neuss is a district authority. This means that the district administrator is also head of the police authority.

At the top of the KPB is the head of the police department. The more than 700 employees report to her.
The head of the police department is responsible for assessing the security situation in the district. In consultation with the district administrator, she determines the guidelines and priorities for police action. She coordinates and monitors the performance of police duties in the various specialist directorates (of which there are four: crime, traffic, emergency response/deployment and central tasks).

For cross-directorate tasks, a management team is attached to the head of the police department. The management team supports the head of department in her management, controlling and leadership tasks and advises her on matters of principle. It is also the point of contact for external authorities on overarching issues and for other police or executive authorities on matters relating to police operations.

The press and public relations team is the point of contact for media representatives, organizes press appointments and represents the authority on social media channels. By publishing press releases, it provides an insight into everyday police activities and relevant events in the Rhine district of Neuss.
