State Secretary Jürgen Mathies visits Grevenbroich

The new police station building in Grevenbroich was officially opened on Friday (March 11). State Secretary Jürgen Mathies paid a visit to the new station to mark the occasion.

At the invitation of District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, representatives of the NRW State Office for Central Police Services and the NRW Building and Real Estate Management (BLB NRW) and Grevenbroich's mayor Klaus Krützen were also in attendance.

Preliminary work began in February 2019 - in the immediate vicinity of the old police station, as the new building was to be constructed on the same site and the central location was to be retained.

The foundation stone was ceremoniously laid on November 8, 2019. After around two years of construction time, the relocation was able to take place swiftly in August 2021. This was followed by the dismantling of the old office building, which finally opened up the view of the new station towards Lindenstrasse. The construction work is now largely complete. The forecourt will still be planted with shrubs and winter lime trees and will remain open as a meeting place for the citizens of Grevenbroich.

"As part of a tight construction project, a modern office building has been created here in Grevenbroich within a very short space of time. It is a good basis for professional police work," stated State Secretary Jürgen Mathies.

District Administrator and head of the district police authority, Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, was also very satisfied with the excellent cooperation between all those involved and was delighted with the result: "The new police station building meets the high demands of modern police work. The effort that went into these walls has paid off!"

After the move, the guard and change service, the district service, the crime and traffic commissioner's office and the central traffic accident investigation team have found their new official home here. And the presence of the police at this location is important to the district administrator: "In my opinion, it is impossible to imagine the town of Grevenbroich without them on Lindenstrasse. With the inauguration here today, we are sending a further signal of our presence and our commitment to the citizens."

On a usable area of around 1060 square meters, employees and, not least, visitors have significantly more space than in the previously used building.

In order to symbolically conclude the good cooperation, Elke Kolfen, Head of the BLB Düsseldorf branch, ceremoniously handed over the key to District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke: "I would like to thank everyone involved for their constructive cooperation on this project," said Elke Kolfen, "because this also contributed to the fact that the new police station was completed in such a short time and that we have now been able to hand over this new, functional and representative accommodation to the police. Together for a safe Grevenbroich."
